The most commonly used door closers are externally mounted door closers, which are installed in the following ways:
The most common standard installation is with the door closer mounted on the hinge side, the opening side of the door. In this installation, the door closer arm protrudes outwards, forming approximately a 90° angle with the door frame.
The door closer is mounted on the opposite side of the hinge side, the closing side of the door. Typically, an additional bracket supplied with the door closer is mounted on the arm parallel to the door frame. This method is usually used for outward-opening exterior doors where it is undesirable to install the door closer outside the building.
The door closer body is mounted upside down onto the door frame rather than the door itself, on the opposite side of the hinge. This method can also be used for outward-opening exterior doors, especially those with a very narrow top edge and insufficient space to accommodate the door closer body.
Vertical door closer (built-in vertical door closer) stands upright and is concealed inside the door leaf hinge side. Screws and parts are not visible from the outside. It can be integrated with the door and can open and close in one or both directions. It is easy to install.
