Extra Heavy Duty Door Closer

A heavy door is 120-200kg. A steel fire door. A 2 meter wide entrance door. These doors have high inertia. When they close, the impact force on the closer is 3-5 times higher than a normal door. A normal commercial closer will leak oil in 2 months. It will break in 1 year.

This extra heavy duty door closer is made for heavy doors. The size is 5 or 6. Size 5 is for doors 120-150kg. Size 6 is for doors 150-200kg. The max door width is 1400mm.

The case is thick. 3.5mm or more. Normal heavy duty closers have 2.5-3.0mm cases. We did an overload test. 10,000 cycles with a door that is 20% heavier than the rating. No cracks. No leaks.

Normal closers only have a slow down in the last 5-10 degrees. The heavy door slams into the frame. Bang. Loud and damaging. This closer has a 20 degree slow down. The door starts to slow down when it is 20 degrees away from the frame. The final closing force is 200N or less. That is about 20kg of force. Normal closers have 500N of closing force. So our closer reduces the slam force by 60%.

We tested this extra heavy duty door closer against wind. Level 10 wind. That is 28 meters per second. About 100 km per hour. The door did not close by itself. The closer held it open.

We ran the test to 1 million cycles. The closer still worked. The force drop was less than 12%. No oil leaks. The national test center certified the 800,000 cycle result. The warranty is 3 years.
