Matte Black Lever Door Handles

Every designer loves it. It looks modern. It does not show fingerprints as much as chrome. But there is a problem with many matte black handles. The coating comes off after three months. Or every touch leaves a visible fingerprint.

This matte black lever door handle solves both problems. The surface is either matte electrostatic spray or matte black PVD. Spray coating is 60-80μm thick. PVD coating is 1.2-1.5μm thick. They look almost the same. The difference is price and wear. Spray is cheaper. PVD lasts longer.

We tested the wear resistance. Steel wool with a 500g weight. Rub back and forth 5,000 times. Normal spray coating shows the base metal at 2,000 rubs. Our matte black lever door handle still looks fine at 5,000 rubs. The surface is a little shiny. But no base metal showing.

We have a level 4 fingerprint resistance rating. Level 5 is the highest. When you touch the handle, the fingerprint fades in 5 seconds. It is mostly gone in 10 seconds. The coating has a contact angle of 110 degrees or more. That means oil does not stick easily.

The gloss level is 15 degrees or less. Normal bright chrome has a gloss level of 80-90 degrees. So this handle has no reflection at all. It looks very high end. The material choices are zinc alloy, aluminium, or stainless steel. The lever wall thickness is 2.0mm or more.

We control the color difference. Delta E is less than 1. That means you cannot see the difference between two batches made months apart. This is important for large projects. You do not want half the handles to look different from the other half.
